At Footprint Farms, sustainability is the driving force behind everything they do. From their pastured, Non-GMO eggs and poultry to their all-grass beef and pork, they strive to create a food system that is both environmentally responsible and ethically sourced.

But when the pandemic hit, and restaurants were forced to close, Footprint Farms found themselves with an excess inventory of chicken, beef, and pork. Rather than letting this go to waste, they turned to RFEC, a local food production company, for help.

RFEC didn't hesitate to jump in and help. On February 2nd and 3rd, they produced 300 gallons of soup, 100 pounds of lard, and dehydrated 250 turkey feet, all from the excess inventory provided by Footprint Farms. These products would have otherwise gone to waste, but now they were able to be repurposed and given a new life.

But the partnership between Footprint Farms and RFEC doesn't end there. With the increased need for freezer space due to the pandemic, Footprint Farms has rented five skids from RFEC, a number that is drastically higher than what they normally need.

In challenging times, it's heartening to see two local businesses come together to help one another. Footprint Farms was able to repurpose their excess inventory, and RFEC was able to provide the space and resources needed for their freezer needs.

This partnership is an example of what can be achieved when businesses work together towards a common goal.
